General information

Background: Keswick School founded in 1898 and moved to a spacious new single site with large grounds in 1996. The school's facilities include: modern computer suites, new sports hall and boarding wing for 50 students. As part of the multi-million pound development to house Keswick School on a single site in 1996, a purpose-built library was opened in the midst of the complex. The library is named after Rosemary Aitken who was Head Girl of the school in 1932 and served as a foundation governor for 11 years until her death in 1990. Three separate sciences taught and there is a long tradition of pupils going on to Oxbridge. There are two cricket teams and two football teams, which are county champions. It has achieved national success in rock-climbing. Its sporting activities include fell running. The school has a long tradition of operating the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme for the benefit of its pupils. The school aims to provide a traditional but innovative environment.
