General information

Background: The Morton School is a comprehensive community school for boys and girls aged 11-19. The school is based on the western side of Carlisle in purpose-built accommodation on a green field site. The school has been open since 1968. It has excellent facilities. The school-wide information and communication technology system gives students access to their own files from any of the five major computer facilities in the main curriculum areas, or from the clusters of machines in other subject areas. There is a new theatre equipped with the most modern sound and lighting systems. In addition, there are sports facilities including large playing fields, well-equipped sports hall and gymnasium. The school caters for the widest variety of interests. These include sporting activities, musical instrument lessons, orchestra, choir, field trips, theatre visits and arts evenings. The school aims to ensure that all its pupils have the opportunity to achieve to their full potential. It is committed to providing its youngsters with an educational experience of the highest quality. .
