General information

Background: Settlebeck High School is a Specialist Technology College and a member of rural academy of Cumbria. The school has links with the local primary schools provides good induction arrangements for new students. There is a very good provision in English, mathematics and science and the provision for students? spiritual, moral, social, and cultural education is very good. The Settlebeck School library is a central resource for the whole school. A variety of clubs, musical, sporting, dramatic and other activities are offered by the school. The school has a long tradition of highly successful music and drama performances. The school has foreign links also, in the last two years most students had visited France on residential experiences organised by the modern foreign languages department. In 2002 the students raised money, which was sufficient to build a toilet block for a school serving a temporary community on the outskirts of Lima, Peru. In 2004 significant money was raised for education in Africa. The school provides the opportunity to experience films, plays, dance and musical activities within the school as well as being encouraged to join visits to galleries, the theatre and to concerts. 17 years ago Settlebeck established a trust with charitable status.
