Background: Branksome School is situated to the west of the town overlooking open fields and hills. It was opened in 1963. The school building contains specialist rooms for technology, science, information communication technology, drama, art or ceramics, music, learning resources and a health and fitness room. The school has superb sports facilities with extensive playing fields, a swimming pool, a gymnasium and an outdoor basketball court. It provides an extensive range of cultural experiences and opportunities throughout the year. These include visits to museums, theatre or cinema visits, school musical productions and involvement in local cultural festivals. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include badminton, basketball, gymnastics, netball, softball, trampolining, cricket, cross-country running and orienteering. The school aims to provide safe and secure environment.
