General information

Background: The 'smaller than average' school was built in 1966 on a site of one hectare. It is situated in a 'pretty' rural village in south Durham and draws some of its pupils from a wider catchment area. In addition to 'good academic standards', physical education plays an 'important part in the overall approach to learning'. The school is also 'culturally rich with music and drama enriching a broad and balanced curriculum'. The main aims of the school are to provide a 'happy and safe' environment and a 'quality of education where high standards can be achieved'.
