General information

Background: Noel-Baker Community School and Language College is a secondary school and sixth form for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is 11 to 18. The school was originally names after the late Lord Noel-Baker, a former MP for Derby south. The first school was opened in 1960. The school is well equipped and accommodated in an attractive and well organise campus at the southern edge of Derby, serving the Alvaston, Boulton and Wilmorton areas of the city. The school building consists of two sites the lower and upper school site. Lower site provides accommodation for the modern languages, English, learning support and expressive art departments. Upper site provides accommodation for mathematics, technology, science, drama and business education. Sports facilities include 14 tennis courts, two cricket pitches and a large number of practice areas and pitches for football, rugby, hockey and netball. A wide range of sports are encouraged at school with a range of school teams in many sports entered in league and cup competitions against other schools. These activities include athletics, badminton, basketball, cross-country, football, gymnastics, tennis, trampolining and cricket. The school aims to provide a calm, positive and purposeful environment. .
