General information

Background: St Benedict Catholic School is a very large mixed 11-19 comprehensive school. It was designated as specialist in Performing Arts. The facilities include on its main site are two halls, one gymnasium, one sports hall, 12 fully equipped science laboratories, five information technology rooms, a computer aided design room, one textile room, design and technology workshops, art studios, drama studio, theatre, careers resource area, a study support room, library and multi-resources/learning centre and a full range of other classrooms. Sport is a high priority at Saint Benedict School. The sports facilities include a purpose-built sports hall, a multi-gym; hard play areas for netball and tennis and extensive playing fields with football, rugby and hockey pitches. The extra-curricular department leads to variety of activities where the students can extend their abilities outside the core curriculum. These mainly take place in after-school sessions. The various clubs are: netball, hockey, gymnastics, tennis, football, cross-country, athletics and rounders. The school has achieved the following awards: Artsmark Gold award, Investors in People, Sportsmark award. The school aims to provide a supportive and welcoming environment.
