Background: Built in 1875; school set in village in heart of Amber Valley; the village is 2006 winner of Calor Gas Village of the Year and finalist in Village of the Decade. Large playing fields. After-school care until 6pm; after-school clubs until 4.30pm. Footballers winners of Matlock and District Bunting Cup (2003, 2005) and Coleman Cup (2004); winners of Matlock and district athletics shield (2002). Over-subscribed, with 1.1 applications per place. Basic Skills Quality Mark (2006); DfES achievement awards (2001, 2002).
