General information
Background: Built in 1916, the school was designed by architect George Widdows and is now a listed building. The main part of the school comprises of a hall, eight classrooms and kitchen. A modern extension was added 20 years ago and the school has also recently undergone extensive refurbishment to provide bright and welcoming accommodation for pupils. Two more classrooms, a library, a meeting room and an ICT suite have recently been added. In January 1999, Creswell Junior emerged from special measures and has experienced two years of rapid change and development. The school has a large playing field with marked pitches. The school runs a whole range of extra-curricular activities in physical education, which include football, netball, gymnastics, rounders and cricket. After-school clubs are also available including drama, computers, choir, chess and mathematics. Fundraising events are held on a regular basis. The school aims to provide a caring and secure environment where children are always encouraged to do their best and to achieve their potential in all aspects of their personal, social, physical and academic growth.
