General information
Background: Built in 1870, the school has two-and-a-half classrooms and two-and-a-half teachers in one building. It attracts children who travel 'up to ten miles through narrow lanes' to reach Broadhempston. Extra-curricular activities include weekly dry slope skiing in the winter followed by canoeing in the summer. The chess club is 'strong' and members have represented the school in the county team. The county final championships were reached in 1998 in football and cricket. Broadhempston has recorded its drama productions onto CD, which are considered a 'major event' in village life. Both drama and art are acted on with a 'strong approach'.
