General information

Background: Clayesmore Preparatory School was founded in 1929 on another site. In 1963, it was renamed and became the preparatory school of Clayesmore School, finally moving to the Senior School site at Iwerne Minster in 1975.The premises and accommodation are satisfactory and the site overall is very fine: they make a positive contribution to pupils? learning and the quality of their education. The buildings are generally adequate in terms of provision, quality, quantity and condition. The provision for physical education and games is excellent; some other classrooms and rooms for ICT, the library and the learning support unit are good. The science laboratories are adequate but somewhat dated. The specialist computer room is of very good size but lacks proper ventilation and is liable to become uncomfortably warm. A major building project, which is under active consideration, will deal with some of these shortcomings.Pupils? attainment in PE and games is good at each stage in the school and high standards are reached in swimming. At Foundation Stage and in the Pre-prep, fundamental skills such as balance, body control and ball skills, basic badminton skills and knowledge of the rules were developed and improved. .

Inspection: October 2004: ?Clayesmore Preparatory School shares a fine site with Clayesmore Senior School and provides a wide-ranging curriculum for all its pupils. The committed and professional teaching staff secures a high level of pastoral care and promotes good level of attainment for the pupils. Notable features of the school are excellent learning support unit, high quality music and very good range of sports activities. Some behavioural issues have to be tackled and some school policies need to be fully implemented.?.
