General information

Headteacher: Martin Cooke.

Background: Set in a beautiful 62 acre campus Clayesmore School is one of the most successful independent schools in the South of England.Since opening a purpose designed, fully integrated Art school in the 90's, the art department has quickly established itself as one of the best there is in the independent sector. It provides spacious studio and exhibition space for all media including sculpture, ceramics, pottery and textiles. Art is one of the strongest subjects at the school and this is evidenced by the keen uptake at GCSE and A level and the excellent, near professional standard of the work.Sport flourishes at Clayesmore with pupils performing to very high levels in the mainstream areas such as rugby, hockey, cricket and athletics. The School is justly proud of its performances at matches, often against schools who are twice the size. Sport is for all at Clayesmore with the emphasis firmly based on teamwork and a sense of achievement, qualities which are readily transferable to other spheres. For a small school, Clayesmore is exceptionally well equipped with facilities that provide a vast range of opportunities to suit most talents and interests. The Sports Centre with newly installed fitness gym, internal and external climbing walls, squash courts and swimming pool is a focal point for the sports timetable and for free periods. The Centenary flood lit astroturf pitch encourages high standards in hockey and tennis and the ample playing fields and cricket pitches ensure that sport is enjoyed by all. .
