General information

Background: Cranbourne Middle School opened in 1961 in 'a wonderful rural environment'. The building comprises of a hall with permanent stage, gymnasium, science laboratory, technology rooms, textiles and home economics rooms, a music room and library along with 12 classrooms. Recent developments include two new rooms with networked PCs for information and communications technology. Children are admitted from Cranbourne and nearby villages. The school has many sports teams for all ages in summer and winter sports and, amongst other achievements, was winner of the 1998/99 Dorset County Sportshall League. Other extra-curricular activities include band, choir, recorder group, environment club, drama productions German club, school coucil, a residential trip to France and a technology club which is a regular prize winner at the Dorset Technology Fair. The school regularly supports Red Nose Day and Children in Need and non-school uniform days throughout the year raise funds for other national and local charities.
