Background: Queen Elizabeth?s is a Voluntary Controlled Church of England school, which grew from a foundation established in 1497. The recent additions have included new rooms in food technology, a dance studio, an astroturf multi-sports area, a complete refurbishment of design technology, new computer suites and a remodelled learning support base. The school is committed to the highest standards in all areas of school life and it seeks to support these standards through excellent teaching and a strong ethos of values and mutual respect. The school prides itself on the range of opportunities offered outside the classroom. As a Specialist Sports College, it provides a wealth of sporting opportunities for all abilities, from teams in all major sports and elite performance support, to sports activities open to all. There is a long-standing reputation for excellence in music, drama and the arts, with major concerts and productions throughout the year. The school works closely with colleagues from the entire Wimborne pyramid to ensure continuity and progression in its teaching and learning, and a smooth transition to upper school. The school has a strong ethos of values and mutual respect, based on Christian principles in a comprehensive setting where every child can achieve his or her potential.
