General information
Background: St Gregory's Church of England Primary School, Marnhull was founded in 1815; the school has had several extensions since the completion of the Victorian school building in 1874. It is a village school in a 'large and very supportive' rural community, situated on the outskirts of the village of Marnhull in the Blackmore Vale, adjacent to the Church and an ancient tythe barn. St Gregory's has a swimming pool, a field and a playgroup. A 'wide range' of extra-curricular activities are on offer, including orchestra, chess club, and many sports. Pupils also compete in swimming, cricket, hockey, athletics and fun-runs. Community links are 'strong'. Funds are raised for 'various' children's charities including a children's home in India and guide dogs for the blind. " The aim of the school is to achieve a caring and supportive environment where all its children are encouraged to achieve in a variety of ways and fulfil their potential." .
