General information

Background: The Grange School is a small mixed comprehensive school serving part of the town of Christchurch and adjacent estates and villages. The school has very good facilities. There has been extensive building and refurbishment over the past few years. From September 1st 2004 The Grange School became a DfES designated Sports College. Sport is very strong and the school has very good facilities for physical education, including very large sports fields. Students can take part in a wide range of activities, both within the curriculum and as part of school?s extensive extra-curricular programme. Activities range from swimming to kayaking, from soccer to tennis, hockey to rugby and many, many more. Outdoor education is a strong feature of the school and a large number of students follow the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. The Arts are also very popular at the school. There are a wide range of dramatic and musical activities on offer, with frequent productions and performances. There are lots of other opportunities available at the school, including a range of clubs, activities and many trips and visits. Some students get involved in a range of charity activities that the school has supported over recent years. The school is also one of the few schools across the country with its own Combined Cadet Force. Its close relationship with the local community and local businesses has strengthened its work in careers education and work related learning. The school's success has been recognised by two recent School Achievement Awards. The school believes that each member of the school community should have an equal opportunity to fulfil his or her potential and achieve the highest possible academic, social, moral, cultural and sporting standards in a rewarding, stimulating and ordered environment.
