General information
Background: Located in Bride Valley, and with a history dating back to 1690, Thorner's offers 'spacious' playing fields and a swimming pool. Its buildings were modernised in 1968, and facilities now include four 'large' classrooms, a hall, multi-purpose room and central library. All classrooms are equipped with computers and the school is connected to the internet so children can 'communicate regularly with their European link schools'. Thorner's takes part in local football and netball leagues, area athletics competitions, and school tournaments. Music 'plays an important part in school life' and children can learn to play a variety of musical instruments including recorder, flute, violin and trumpet. School musicals are also performed 'regularly'.
