General information

Background: Established in 1667 by Thomas Foley, a local industrialist; three of his descendants are still among its Feoffees (Foundation Trustees) and governors. It has a wide range of sporting activities, including athletics, badminton, basketball, cross-country running, fencing, golf, kung fu, netball, sailing, shooting, squash, tennis and trampolining. Strong links with business community through unique partnership with the Institute of Directors. Significant Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme; Combined Cadet Force. Specialist business and enterprise college status. Before-school care, from 7.30am; after-school care, until 9pm. Over-subscribed, with four applications per place. Beacon status (2004); Sportsmark Gold (1998); DfES achievement award (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003).
