General information
Background: Located on edge of small market town, enjoys panoramic views of countryside; surrounded by extensive grounds and playing fields; site regularly developed since school was built in 1958 and includes pitches for hockey, football and rugby, cricket wicket and tennis courts. Pupils make use of facilities for extra-curricular sports; other activities include drama, orchestra, chemistry, Red Cross, sugar craft, choir, and school show. Curriculum supported by range of day trips for history, theatre, geography and art. Residential visits arranged with French exchange partner; ski trips regularly organised. School values links with parents; uses school board, parent-teacher association and parents' evenings to maintain good relations. 'It is our intention to promote and foster good relations between the school and the community it serves. To be successful, an educational system must be one where parents, pupils and staff work in unison towards the promotion of sound learning in an atmosphere tolerant of race, religion and creed.' Careers library with resources, including CD-ROMs, to help pupils plan for employment and further education.
