General information
Background: Dalry Secondary serves St John's Town of Dalry and the surrounding rural area. After-school activities are organised by staff on a voluntary basis, when pupils may take part in traditional pursuits such as sports, or concentrate on their school work with the supervision and help of a teacher. In order to foster good relations with parents, the headteacher holds weekly surgeries, frequently consults with parents about their children's work and about developments at the school. There is an active parent-teachers association which organises social events and raises funds. Parents are also welcome to help at the school, for example through the volunteer readers scheme or working on the garden for the millennium project. The education authority has supplied facilities and training for video-conferencing and improved internet access.
