General information

Background: Woodham Comprehensive School was formally opened in June 1970. Facilities and resources at the college are extensive, catering well for the academic and social needs of students. These include nine science laboratories, music suite, technology complex with seven specialist workshops, drama theatre, special educational needs resource base and an information and communication technology suite. The resource centre offers excellent library facilities plus networked computers with broadband internet access. The college also has excellent sporting facilities including a large swimming pool, indoor sports hall, fitness suite, an all-weather pitch and running track. In 1993 the college was designated as a resource base for pupils with physical and learning difficulties. It has gained the specialist school status in 1999. The games including football, netball, American football and basketball are strong and thriving games at the college. The college has a deep seated culture of high expectation and hard work. Throughout the college there is a palpable air of optimism and positive team spirit.
