Background: Elthorne Park High School is a mixed comprehensive community school for students aged 11 to 16. The school has superb facilities with seven science laboratories, a purpose-built drama studio, two art rooms with a dark room and kiln facilities, specialist design and technology rooms including food and textile rooms. There is also a purpose-designed learning resource centre housing books, CD ROMS and other multimedia resources as well as access to the internet. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered during lunchtime and after-school. These activities include cricket, football, netball, basketball, rugby and athletics. Students are encouraged to participate in inter-form, inter-school and regional competitions according to their aptitude. The school aims to create an environment where there is an emphasis on success and potential, and where all individuals and their achievements are valued and celebrated.
