Background: Doon Academy is a six year comprehensive school located within the village of Dalmellington. The school originally opened in its current building in 1978 and has been extensively refurbished in recent months. The building is in excellent condition and the school also offers good educational facilities. The sports facilities that are available at this school are gymnasium, games hall, fitness suite and also a swimming pool, which is open to the public at lunchtime and in the evenings. The school also offers various extra-curricular clubs such as football, basketball, dance and cricket. The school aims to provide a caring and supportive community.
