General information

Background: The school was founded in 1924 and moved to its present location, following a fire, in 1969. Serving the communities of Prestopans, Port Seton, Cockenzie and Longniddy, it has an ethos of 'achievement for all'. Pupils are of varying abilities, and oustanding individual successes are recorded each year. In 1999, one of the school's pupils was awarded the highest score in Scotland for Higher Physics. Two bases are used to cater for those with special educational needs (SEN), and staff is employed to manage this provision. Extra-curricular activities include the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and fund-raising for charity. Extensive after-school study support is also offered. .
