General information
Background: Opened in 1938, Eastwood High moved to its present site in the grounds of Capelrig House in 1965. The campus is surrounded by mature trees and rugby, football, and hockey pitches and tennis courts are located adjacent to the school. The school also boasts a well-equipped stage, two gymnasia, a swimming pool, fitness suite and computer rooms. Rugby, football, hockey, netball, volleyball, basketball, tennis and badminton teams all represent the school in competition and inter-class tournaments are also arranged regularly. In recent times the school has won a number of district and county sporting titles and pupils have been selected for county regional and national squads in a variety of sports. Other extra-curricular activities include chess, mathematics, computing, scripture union and drama. Several musical evenings take place each term involving the school's bands and choirs. Students also have the opportunity to visit theatres, museums and other places of interest, including trips abroad to Germany, France, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland. Every year fundraising events are held in support of a chosen charity. .
