General information
Background: Set on edge of East Renfrewshire; adapted to provide full range of courses for pupils of all abilitiy ranges and for pupils with a range fo special needs, including wheelchair access. Reputation for extra-currciular activities as well as academic achievement: 'A school aim is to maintain this reputation and that all pupils should achieve their full potential.' School board is 'dynamic'; Eastwood Community Award after students raised more than £12,000 for charity. The school has been re-configured and modernised; facilities for home economics have been completed. New £8 million extension completed in December 2005: new main entrance, improved pupil drop-off areas, replacement of existing temporary accommodation with new social, physical education, and teaching accommodation. Over-subscribed. Investor in People status. Ethos: 'Our overall aim is that pupils will achieve their full potential by being safe, happy and well-taught.' .
