Background: Neilston is a non-denominational, co-educational primary school. It is situated in the village of Neilston, which is located to the south of Barrhead and in the west of East Renfrewshire. The school was built in the late 1960s and comprises a traditional building from that period with an open plan extension, which was opened in 1991. The school offers a range of extra-curricular activities and clubs including football club, country dancing and instrumental tuition in both woodwind and brass. Football is played in the school and its pupils take part in the varied activities of the Neilston Agricultural show. The school aims to provide a secure and happy atmosphere and an interesting and stimulating environment in which the children can learn most effectively. .
