General information
Background: Little Ridge Community School was officially opened in 1989 as a new school to serves a 'rapidly growing' housing development on the outskirts of St Leonards. The building has a 'modern, unusual design' and is set in 'extensive' grounds'. The school has tried to improve the local environment by planting trees, shrubs and spring bulbs. It has an 'active' parents-staff association that arranges social and fundraising activities. There are 'regular' after-school clubs including stamp collecting, football, netball, cricket, dance and badminton, in addition to an aerobics class for all staff. The school participates in all local sports competitions and it firmly believes in 'boys and girls enjoying all activities'. It is particularly proud of its 'success in athletics'. 'Strong' links with the local and wider community include a young engineers club sponsored by a local firm and regular computing devices competitions run by Focus/Do It All. The school donates to the local day centre for the blind and partially sighted as well as providing for national and worldwide charities. Little Ridge is a school which has 'good team work between newly qualified and experienced teachers with support staff playing a valued and important role'.
