General information
Background: Bishop Wilton is a Victorian village school built in 1862. It serves the village of Bishop Wilton and outlying farms and hamlets. The school, church and village hall provide a focus for a variety of activities from shared church services and celebrations to the church bazaar. The school enjoys a reputation for 'high expectations and standards' and works hard to maintain this. It also encourages sporting activities and in 1999 for the first time had enough girls in the junior section to form a netball team. Sporting activities are extended by combining with other local schools. There is also a lunchtime computer club, in addition to country dancing. The 'hardworking' Parent-Teacher Association is 'appreciated for its efforts to raise much-needed funds year after year'. 'We will maintain what we believe to be a special atmosphere at Bishop Wilton School so that it continues to be a place where tolerance, appreciation and love exists.' .
