General information

Background: Driffield School is a large 11 to 18 comprehensive school, which offers education to pupils living in Driffield and the surrounding areas. A wide variety of activities occur everyday in school, to which all pupils are encouraged to participate. Sporting activities include practices for school teams in rugby, football, hockey, netball, basketball, cricket, rounders, athletics and there are clubs for those interested in table tennis, volleyball, gymnastics, tennis, swimming and weight training. Musical activities include choirs, orchestra, string orchestra, brass and woodwind ensembles, guitar club and theory of music classes. There are also flourishing drama, chess, art and ceramics clubs as well as many other incidental gatherings in which teachers and pupils will have the opportunity to work together in a more informal way. The school has its own outdoor pursuits centre in the North Yorkshire national park called Spiers Bank House. This school has also achieved the following awards: Investor in People and DfES achievement award in 2003. The school aims to offer a positive and exciting learning environment.
