Background: Balgreen is a non-denominational primary school. The building is of traditional design and forms a rectangle, in the centre of which there is a large garden area. The school has an assembly hall which also serves as gymnasium and dining area, a medical room, a library and a television/audio-visual/music room. There are two playground areas, one of which contains an astro-turf pitch used during the school day for games activities and after-school hours. The school is presently very well served by a variety of after-school clubs, available to different age groups of children. These include netball, gymnastics, fencing, football, basketball and hockey. Clubs that take place during school time include activities like cross-country and the choir.
