General information

Background: The original Blackhall School was established in 1903 and, as the pupil numbers grew and the curriculum changed, the school moved from site to site until in 1979 the present school building was opened. The building is designed as a number of flexible spaces in which the needs of a wide curriculum can be easily provided for class, group and individual learning activities. In addition to the 12 class areas there is a library, a music and drama studio and a multi-purpose hall which serves as a gymnasium, dining room and assembly hall. The building is on one level and has wheelchair ramps which allow access to all areas of the building. Outdoors there is a hard play area with a basketball court, a landscaped quiet area, a sensory garden, infant play area and a playing field. The school offers various after-school clubs. These include drama, enjoyaball club, website club and basketball. The school is committed to delivering learning opportunities of the highest quality, in a supportive atmosphere where everyone feels happy, confident and valued as an individual.
