Background: Firrhill High School is a six-year comprehensive school situated in the south west of Edinburgh. The school occupies an attractive site overlooking the Pentland Hills. Opened in 1960, the school has gradually expanded to form a campus of 10 discrete buildings. A major refurbishment has taken place, and has produced quality facilities and a greatly enhanced establishment for staff and students. The school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities. In sport, the under-14 football team and ski-club have achieved national success. School trip destinations include New York, Germany, France and Italy. Pupils and staff raise money for charity and school clubs through sponsored events. The school provides a caring and stimulating environment in which students can reach their full potential. .
