Background: Leith Academy is situated in Academy Park in Leith, which runs between the foot of Easter Road and Lochend Road. It is one of the oldest schools in Scotland. The school has excellent accommodation and resources. This includes general classrooms, seminar rooms, a library resource centre, computer rooms, a theatre, games hall, sports clubhouse, 25-meter swimming pool and health/fitness centre. Outdoors sporting facilities are very good, providing an all-weather pitch for hockey, tennis and 7-a-side football, grass pitches for football and rugby and a cricket square. The school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities. These include rugby, orienteering, musical production, computers, golf, swimming, art, orchestra, hockey, drama and Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. The school aims to provide a high quality, welcoming, safe and caring environment in which all are valued and supported, and for which all share responsibility.
