Background: Lorne Primary School is situated in Lorne Street, which is just off Leith Walk in Edinburgh. The school is an old Victorian building, which first opened in 1876. Despite the age of the building the inside is bright and attractive, having been extensively modernised. The school lies on three main floors with intervening mezzanine floors. The school has its own nursery, which opened in August 2001. The school offers a range of activities that varies from time to time. These include football, chess club, art club, science club and rehearsals for concerts. Children also have opportunities to experience a variety of musical activities. The school also plays an active role in the local community. The school aims to educate each child to the best of its ability in a secure and happy environment. .
