General information
Background: Nether Currie Primary School was opened in 1961 and is situated in the heart of a pleasant residential area in the village of Currie about seven miles west of Edinburgh. The school has a single-storey split-level building that contains eight classrooms and associated cloakroom, a learning support base, a library and a general-purpose room. There is a large hall, which provides an accommodation for dining, recreation and social gatherings, and a bright well-equipped gymnasium. There are large grassy areas and two hard surfaced areas for the children to play on. The school offers a number of clubs and societies, which meet regularly. These include football, swimming, after-school games clubs and scripture union. The school is an important part of the local community and has a very active and appreciated parent teacher association. The school aims to promote the development of the whole child within a happy,caring, motivating and secure environment.
