Background: St Mark's is a Catholic primary school with a wide catchment area. The school is situated at the foot of the Pentland Hills and adjacent to Colinton Mains Park. It was opened in November 1967. The school is semi-open plan in design with seven classroom areas, which are carpeted and two project areas. The school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities. These include football training, netball club, badminton club, skiing, guitar club, recorder club and chess club. The school aims to create a caring, secure environment in which every child feels happy, confident and valued as an individual.
