Inspection: May 2002: 'Salcombe School is a co-educational preparatory school for pupils from four to eleven years old. The school is successful in preparing pupils for entrance tests and examinations to independent senior schools. Very warm and friendly relationship exists among staff and pupils. Pupils enjoy coming to school, feel happy and secure and their behaviour is very good. The management of the school contributes much to the caring and multicultural ethos. The quality of teaching was good in nearly half of the lessons seen and it was satisfactory. The headmaster and the staff are committed to the well being of the school and its pupils. The overall quality of education has provided many good featuresbut some aspects need attention, notably management structure, assessment, curriculum coordination, the arrangements for staff development and the provision of specific targeted work for pupils with special educational needs.'
