General information
Background: Birch Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School founded in 1847 by Charles Grey Round of Birch Hall to provide education according to the principles and practices of the Church of England. Since then there have been considerable changes, in 1985 the school was refurbished to a very high standard and a new school hall was built. There are three classrooms in the main building and one demountable classroom outside. In addition, there is a central library, a new computer suite, computers with Internet access in all rooms and a spacious food technology area. The school is set in very pleasant surroundings, which include play areas and a field. It is surrounded by gardens and hedges and the grounds contain mature trees, a pond, wet area and butterfly garden. The school provides Extra-curricular activities such as computers, art, craft, netball, athletics, rounders, gymnastics and French for Key Stage 2 children and Lunch Club for Year 6.
