Background: Castle View School is an 11-16 co-educational, comprehensive school situated North of Canvey Island, overlooking Hadleigh Downs. The school?s reputation is based on consistent achievement in all areas of the curriculum and traditional values. It believes in providing an educational experience that provides a challenge for all pupils regardless of their ability. The school has high expectations of all its pupils and is conscious of its responsibility to prepare them for the demands of the 21st century. The school was designated a 'Specialist Science College' in September 2003. This came after over two years' hard work in raising £50000 in sponsorship. The school's designation as a Specialist Science College provides the Canvey community and its young people with the enhanced opportunities they richly deserve. Music, drama and art are all important and successful areas of the school. As a Specialist Science College, the school continues to provide an ethos of excellence, high aspirations and expectations.
