General information
Background: Founded in 1670 by Dr Anthony Walker, rector of Fyfield; currently on its third site; serves several villages and hamlets, and in recent years its intake has tripled. A recent re-build has provided the school with six class-bases, and plans are in progress to extend the library and staff accommodation. Over-subscribed, with 1.5 applications per place. Pupils raise money for charity each year and are involved in many community initiatives. The parent-teacher association organises social and fund-raising events; generous donations from local industry have supported ICT initiatives. Strong links with other schools in the area and the village playgroup. Range of extra-curricular activities; success in gymnastics and athletics. Notable for creative curriculum. Staff have high expectations of pupils and work closely with parents; inclusive approach, with high academic succes. Ethos: 'A caring happy school where pupils, parents and staff feel safe, secure and valued. The Christian framework permeates all aspects of the school and pupils are taught in a creative, stimulating learning environment.' .
