General information

Background: Manningtree High School was founded in 1938, and it still uses the original building as the main part of the school. New buildings have been added to increase the capacity of the school and it now hosts an English and religious education block, which has been built in the past six years. The sports hall for the school stands separate and is used by the community in the evenings and at weekends. A new gymnasium with facilities for the disabled is currently being built. The school has a 25 meter outdoor swimming pool, which is used in the summer term. Pupils from each tutor group meet at regular school council meetings to discuss issues.Annually in December the school holds a charity week, and everyone focuses during breaks and lunchtimes on raising money for selected charities. Tutor groups choose their favoured charity. Fund-raising events have included a pupil/teacher swap, make-overs, talent shows, quizzes, cake sales, bring and buy, sponsored silences and non-uniform day. Last year nearly £3,000 was raised by the pupils. .
