General information

Background: The Deanes School is a foundation school. It is a modern purpose-built comprehensive, which opened in 1971, and caters for students of all abilities within the 11-16-age range. It has been redesigned as a DfES specialist sports college for a further period of at least three years. It provides all its students with a challenging, broadly based curriculum, which aims to meet individual talents and aspirations. The school believes that all students need to undertake work, which will challenge their intellect, broaden their perspectives and hold their interest. The aim of personal social and health education is to promote the health and well being of its students, guide their personal and social development as well as encourage a full and positive engagement in the life of the community. The music practice rooms are available to all students every lunchtime as well as a network of PCs. At the Deanes School, every learner is given access to a curriculum rich and varied, challenging and inspiring, which enables all its students to fulfill their potential, to shape their futures and to strive to create a better world.
