General information

Background: West Hatch High School was originally built in 1957. The school now consists of five main buildings with approximately 1265 pupils on roll. The school has been very fortunate in securing additional funding over the past few years which has enabled to build a new Music Suite, Maths Dining and Drama Block, as well as a new purpose built Sixth Form Centre, complete with common room, study centre and ICT suite. More recently the school has been able to build a new Business and Enterprise block which enables a range of community courses to run. In addition, it has had major refurbishment taking place to our Science facilities and has recently generated a new Careers Centre and Media Area complete with editing suite. The school also has year on year invested significantly in ICT provision. The school also has a swimming pool, a gymnasium, multi-gym, extensive playing fields and hard court areas. A wide range of extra-curricular activities is offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include football, netball, rugby, hockey and cricket. Throughout, the school has established a reputation for high standards both in traditional academic areas, and in the most up to date technologies. The vision and shared values of the school are strengths: the sense of community is strong.
