General information
Background: Built on the site of the old Bankier House, which had been in ruins since November 1962; new school opened on April 20 1965; computer suite added in 2000. There is a community wing where members of the local community can hold meetings and social groups. The school offers a wide variety of after-school clubs, including basketball, football training, photography, multi-activity, street dance, woodwork, drama, guitar, and cycling proficiency. The school has twice piloted ICT development for local authority; ICT is one of the priority areas. Every class has an interactive whiteboard; classes also use computer suite twice per week. School has developed programmes of study based on 'future thinking'. Ethos: 'This is a community based school where actions are principle-centred. Pupils and staff are friendly yet very respectful. This is happy and an achieving school.' .
