General information
Background: Dalgety Bay Primary School opened in 1969. It is accommodated in a building with a central quadrangle garden, as well as having two classrooms in a double hut. At present the nursery is still housed within the school, but a new purpose-built nursery is to be opened soon within the grounds. The school also has several grassy areas surrounding it, as well as tarmac playgrounds. Dalgety Bay has been nominated as the best Fife Primary School for swimming and had some major footballing successes. It is proud of its excellent community links especially with the elderly and the local church. Pupils are encouraged to participate in fund-raising, and charities who have previously benefited include the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh, Concerned Scotland, in addition to relief to Kosovo, Comic Relief and Love in a Box, where 239 shoe boxes were filled with gifts for children in Eastern Europe. The school aims to offer a happy, safe and secure environment in a family atmosphere.
