General information

Background: Donibristle opened in 1979. Currently there are twenty two classes within stages Primary one to seven, four of which are composite. The school is of open plan design with a roll of over 700 pupils. The modern building is situated in extensive grounds on a hilltop overlooking the Firth of Forth, on the west side of Dalgety Bay. The school aims to develop a broad and challenging curriculum, aiming to develop the whole child, academically, socially, emotionally, physically, morally and aesthetically, at a level appropriate to the child's individual needs. The school is divided into seven main teaching areas, one for each stage holding two or three mixed ability classes. Within an area the children use the whole space, although this may be sub-divided into a language area, a mathematics area, etc. The building has carpets throughout and tiled areas are provided for art work, science, etc. There is a large hall used for PE and assemblies. The school aims create a happy, caring, secure and stimulating environment, within which it meets the needs of the individual.
