Background: The school was originally formed in 1908 and has had extensions and improvements, the most recent in 1996. The school's facilities include a large practical teaching area, a purpose-built hall for physical education, drama, music and movement, school assemblies, a well-stocked and attractive school library, a purpose-built nursery classroom with its own cloakroom and toilets, a playing field and a nature garden. In addition to National Curriculum, French and Spanish is taught. The school has a variety of extra-curricular activities, which include football, athletics, rugby, hockey, netball, rounders, drama, violin, guitar, country dancing and trumpet. Strong sporting links with local clubs, success at area, County and National level. To provide the highest possible quality of education which reflects the needs of all individuals, and the opportunities for everyone to achieve their potential, both staff and pupils.
