Background: Bill Quay Primary School is situated three miles east at Gateshead town centre and a five-minute walk from Pelaw Metro Station. The school is housed in a large single-storey building one hundred and twenty-five years old. Originally it was a senior school. It has two halls and rooms, which are used for the lending library, resources, craft, a pre-school group, and ICT suite. It has a wild life area, three playgrounds and a school field. The school offers the following: football, dance, gymnastics, netball, swimming, violin, viola, recorder, guitar tuition, computer club and other activities at various times during the year. The school is happy, enjoyable and stimulating place, where people feel secure, have respect for each other and have both individual and corporate pride in the school's achievements.
