General information
Background: Whitehill Secondary School is situated in Glasgow, Scotland. Whitehill School has always been in Dennistoun but it has moved once in its past. The school was founded in 1891 in a large red sandstone building in Whitehill Street and became famous for the quality of the education provided. The old school was demolished after the new school was opened in 1977. The original school bell, a teacher's desk and pupil's desk have been preserved and can be found in the entrance to the new school. The new school was a purpose-built open plan secondary school for pupils aged 12 to 18. The library is equipped with a suite of 20 such computers. The school has excellent facilities which add greatly to the quality of education that the school is able to provide. The school is fortunate to have extensive sports facilities. The facilities are also used by the community during out of school hours. There is a multi-purpose games hall equipped for tennis, badminton, trampolining, football and basketball.
